Policies

How we sell, ship, and stand behind the pieces we find. Please read before ordering — placing an order means you accept these terms.

Shipping

Every piece we send out is insured, tracked, and packed the way we'd want our own sent. These are one-of-a-kind pieces, and there's no replacing them if something goes wrong in transit — so we don't cut corners here.

Rates

We ship within the United States only, and everything goes out by express service — insured, tracked, and signed for. What you pay scales with the value of the piece, because that's what the coverage costs, not because a ring is heavy.

  • Under $250 — free. USPS Priority Mail Express, insured and tracked.
  • $250 to $1,000 — $16. USPS Priority Mail Express, insured and tracked.
  • $1,000 to $2,500 — $29. Adds higher declared-value coverage.
  • $2,500 to $5,000 — $49.
  • $5,000 and above — $89. These move to UPS or FedEx. Postal coverage stops at $5,000, so a piece worth more than that has to travel with a carrier who can insure it properly.

For a piece above $10,000, write to us at alex@extrabutterjewelry.com before ordering so we can arrange the shipment and its coverage with you directly.

When Your Order Goes Out

We pack and ship within 3–5 business days, and tracking lands in your inbox the moment the label exists. If your piece needs sizing or a little preparation first, we'll write to you about timing rather than leave you guessing.

Check Your Address

Please make sure your shipping address is complete and correct before you check out. We aren't responsible for a package sent to an address you gave us incorrectly or incompletely — we can't refund the order, and once a piece has gone to the wrong address there is usually no getting it back. It takes ten seconds to check, and it can save you a piece you'll never find again.

Signing for Your Order

Every package we send requires an adult signature before the carrier will hand it over, whatever the piece cost. We know it's a small inconvenience, and we ask for it anyway: these are one-of-a-kind pieces, so a package that goes missing isn't something we can simply send again. The signature is also what the insurance coverage rests on — without it, a claim won't stand.

If you'd rather your package arrive without one, say so in the order notes and we'll write back to confirm before anything ships. Understand what that means: waiving the signature waives the coverage with it, and the risk of loss or damage becomes yours. We'd steer you away from it entirely if your mailbox is shared or sits somewhere anyone can reach.

Please send your order somewhere a person will actually be during the day — express delivery moves fast, and a package that can't be handed over comes back to the carrier rather than waiting on a step.

If Something Goes Wrong on the Way

Email alex@extrabutterjewelry.com the moment a package turns up damaged or fails to turn up at all, and we'll start a claim with the carrier. Hold on to every scrap of the packaging until that's resolved — carriers almost always want to inspect it, and claims get denied without it.

Shipping on an Approved Return

Sales are final, so this only comes up in the one case our Refund Policy allows: a piece we've agreed was misrepresented. If we approve a return, shipping it back is yours to arrange and pay for, and whatever you paid us for shipping isn't refunded. Insure it for the full purchase price and require a signature — the same reasoning that applies on the way out applies on the way back.

Please wait for our written approval before sending anything. A package that arrives unannounced goes straight back to you.

Returns & Final Sale

Every piece we sell is antique, vintage, or estate — which is to say every piece has lived a life before it reached you. Age and wear are part of what these are, not flaws in them, and we tell you what we see.

All Sales Are Final

We don't accept returns or exchanges. Each piece is one of a kind, and once it's sold it's gone from our hands and out of the collection. The single exception is an item that was materially misrepresented in its listing — see below.

Read the Listing Before You Buy

We describe condition honestly and in detail: what we see, what's been repaired, what's worn. Photographs and video are part of that description, not decoration — please look closely at all of them, and read the written description in full. More images often live on our Instagram as well.

If anything is unclear, ask before you order. We'd far rather answer as many questions as you have than have a piece arrive as a disappointment. Email alex@extrabutterjewelry.com or message us on Instagram at @extra_butter_fine_jewelry — we're glad to send more photos or answer anything.

If a Piece Was Misrepresented

If what arrives doesn't match what we described, write to us within 48 hours of delivery at alex@extrabutterjewelry.com with photographs of the issue. We'll assess it ourselves, and we may ask you to send the piece back so we can examine it in person.

Where we approve a return, the piece has to come back insured for its full purchase price, in exactly the condition it left us, and packed securely. Please wait for our written approval before shipping anything — a piece that arrives unannounced will be sent straight back to you, and we can't be responsible for it in the meantime.

We work hard to make this situation rare, by examining and testing pieces carefully and by describing them plainly.

Prices & Orders

Prices can change without notice. A discount that appears after you've bought something can't be applied retroactively to your order.

Once tracking has gone out on an order, we're no longer able to change its details.

Sales tax is applied where the law requires it.
